We Love Our Swimmers—Which is Why We Love Safety Week

That’s right! To celebrate Valentine’s Day and the love we have for our swimmers, We are doing Safety Week during February 14th-19th.

“What is safety week?”

Every so often, We like to take a week and focus in on what water safety is. We speak openly with our swimmers about possible real world situations. And then, we ask them “how would you handle this?” If someone gave a potentially dangerous response, we speak about why that would be dangerous and how it would be best for our swimmers to handle the situation in regards to everyone’s safety.

For this week, Swimmers will need a t-shirt and pants over their swimsuit and that they are willing to get wet. We will have our swimmers jump in the pool with those clothes. This is so if something were to happen and they need to escape; they would not freeze-up because they have had this experience of being clothed in the water before.

We know that for some the water can be a scary place. When that fear hits, it can feel overwhelming, suffocating—and you are not even in the water yet.

Fear can be totally debilitating, which is why we focus on the foundation of safety. We want you and your swimmers to have an instinctual reaction in any scary, real world situation.

We, here at the Gold Swim School, love our swimmers, which is why we are showing this love by reinforcing that safety foundation. See you next week! Follow us on instagram @goldswimschool to find some past photos and videos of Safety week!
